About Me
I am Joshua Alexander Milan, affectionately known as Josh. I was born on June 9, 1969, in Brooklyn, New York. I am a four-time GRAMMY Award-nominated multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, producer, and CEO/Founder of Honeycomb Music, LLC. My career spans over 40 years, beginning as a founding member of the iconic House music group Blaze and now as a partner at Honeycomb Music and a solo artist. I have dedicated my career to establishing myself as an influential virtuoso in the contemporary Dance music industry.
My musical roots began in Gospel, where I cut my teeth on the church organ at the tender age of 12. From that moment, my journey into the world of music was innately divine. It is from this spiritual base that I approach each project with authenticity and originality rarely found in contemporary music.

“I do what I love, while at the same time, I love what I do.”
My repertoire covers a diverse array of musical genres, blending styles to craft eclectic, soulful compositions. I have performed in London, South Africa, Tokyo, Montenegro, Greece, Italy, Ibiza, Cuba, Croatia, and Brussels. My international travels have provided me with incredible experiences that I incorporate into my music. I have collaborated in the recording studio with artists such as GRAMMY Award-nominated South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela, GRAMMY Award-winning R&B/Pop/Jazz vocalist Patti Austin, and Andy Narell and Lisa Fischer, among others. I have produced remixes for chart-topping dance classics for artists such as Diana Ross, Lisa Stansfield, Babyface, El DeBarge, and Jody Watley. My current discography includes songwriting, vocals, and production for labels such as Motown, BBE, King Street, Vega Records, Nervous Records, Defected, and MAW.
My over 35-year friendship with GRAMMY Award-winning DJ and super-producer Louie Vega led to our collaboration on Louie’s 2016 album Starring...XXVIII, which was nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2017 GRAMMY Awards. I am also a member of Louie Vega’s groundbreaking ensembles, Elements of Life and EOLSoulfrito, serving as a songwriter, featured vocalist, and keyboardist with releases on Vega Records and the renowned Fania Record label.
Today, Louie Vega and I are collaborating on projects under the moniker Two Soul Fusion, creating original releases and remixes for the legendary Brian Jackson, the iconic Afro-rock band Osibisa, Detroit’s own Dames Brown/Andrés/Amp Fiddler, jazz pianist Robert Glasper, and more to come.
In 2021, I received my fourth GRAMMY Award nomination as a featured vocalist on the song “Better Man,” from the album Judgement by Ten City, which was nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2022 GRAMMY Awards.
“Music is love. And love is what we need.”
In 2010, I proudly launched my independent record label, Honeycomb Music, LLC, and since then, we have consistently released hit songs. I have assembled a roster of talented vocalists, musicians, and spoken-word artists with singles, EPs, and albums from artists such as Dawn Tallman, Dannis Winston, Tracy Brathwaite, Sheree Hicks, Cinnamon Brown, Sandra St. Victor, ChinahBlac, Diviniti, Lamone, Kia Stewart, Temika Moore, Joseff McKenneth, Ritmo Y Tumbao, Raw Honey Poets, and others in development. I have also worked with GRAMMY Award-winning producer DJ Kemit. Since 2012, Honeycomb Music’s official webstore reports more than 16,000 downloads of our releases and over 400,000 plays. You can support our releases here.
In 2017, I released my first full-length album, 6.9.69, named after my birthdate. This release marked a pivotal point in my career, a rebirth, so to speak, as I stepped out as a solo artist on my own Honeycomb Music label. This special double album is a collection of original songs I wrote myself and covers of classics such as “Blackbird” (Beatles), “I Wish You Well” (Bill Withers), “The Bottle” (Gil Scott-Heron / Brian Jackson), and “Sweet Little Girl” (Stevie Wonder). This two-disc project only scratches the surface of my creativity. Still, it’s clear that this project has already made a mark on contemporary House music and dance culture. My 6.9.69 album release was also my debut as a published author, with my first book titled In My Own Words: A Collection of Song Lyrics, Poems, Photos, and Musings [Prism Publishing JC, Inc.].
In 2018, I released Shapes, Color and Magic Volume 1, a genre-defying EP that showcases my instrumentation and fuses Jazz, Dance, Funk, Soul, and hints of Gospel, punctuated with my vocal stylings and harmonies. The album marks a new musical direction for me, and I have followed it up with Shapes & Colors Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, a vinyl release series that spotlights my recordings from the original EP and demonstrates my desire to push the boundaries of my artistry and craft.
“Jazz has always been my first love, and House Music is what I’m known for. However, I’m not responsible for what happens at work.”
From 2011-2018 and again in 2023-2024, I celebrated my June 9th birthday with my annual NYC Josh Milan Birthday Boat Ride. This four-hour sound journey on the iconic Circle Line sightseeing cruise sold out every year, attracting fans from around the world. Over the years, renowned DJs such as DJ Spinna, Joaquin Joe Claussell, Jihad Muhammad, Mike Dunn, Rich Medina, Big Moses, and DJ Kemit have provided music at this event. In 2024, as I turned 55, I performed live on stage with my Band aboard the boat for this extra special birthday celebration.
“The only thing one can do, is continue to do what he loves, which is why music has to be a love affair.”
In 2019, I began a new chapter in my career by forming Josh Milan & Band, debuting with sold-out shows in London and Manchester. That June, we headlined my 50th birthday celebration in Schinos, Greece—a four-day music festival called Josh Turns 50, featuring GRAMMY winner Louie Vega, Joaquin Joe Claussell, Honeycomb Music artists, and 18 international DJs. The Band also performed in Montenegro at the Southern Soul Festival and in early 2020 aboard the sold-out Capital Jazz SuperCruise.
Since then, Josh Milan & Band have continued performing worldwide. In 2022, we played at the Southport Weekender (UK), Brooklyn’s Juneteenth Unity Fest, and the Chicago House Music Festival. In 2023, our UK tour included the 51st Festival, Margate Soul Festival, Jazz Cafe London, and We Out Here Festival. Later in 2023, the Band performed live in South Africa at two incredible events in Johannesburg and Gauteng.
In 2024, we returned to London’s Jazz Cafe and performed at the Love Supreme Jazz Festival in East Sussex. We also brought the energy to Jamaica’s House Music on the Beach and wrapped up September with a hometown show at Brooklyn’s Soul in the Horn.
Performing live with my Band remains a joyful and evolving experience that deepens my artistry and my connection with fans around the globe.
I’m currently working on several musical projects, including my solo releases, as well as projects for Two Soul Fusion, Louie Vega, and Elements of Life. My upcoming releases build upon the foundation of 6.9.69 and Shapes, Color, and Magic, highlighting my passion for songwriting, lyrics, vocal arrangements, and production—along with my continued passion for my instruments.
My best work is still ahead. I am fully committed to growing as a musician, singer-songwriter, producer, writer, and label co-owner in this ever-changing industry. I am honored, blessed, and grateful to share my music with YOU.
